Preparing for Your Big Day: A Little Guide for Brides-to-Be

Planning a wedding is one of the most exciting -and let’s be honest, sometimes overwhelming -experiences in life. There’s a long list of things to think about: the venue, the dress, the theme, the guest list, the rings, the photographer… the list goes on. It’s no surprise that the whole process can feel a little stressful, not just for the couple but also for close family and friends.

Every bride dreams of a magical wedding day -one filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. From the moment you get engaged, the excitement kicks in. Suddenly you’re imagining everything: the perfect dress, the dream location, and all the little details that make the day uniquely yours. And of course, you want it to be amazing, all while staying within your budget (easier said than done, right?).

Let’s start with the venue. The UK is full of breathtaking places to say “I do”- from fairytale castles to cosy countryside lodges. Just a heads-up: popular venues get booked fast, so once you find a space that speaks to your heart, lock it in. After that, it’s time to dive into the world of bridal gowns and start thinking about the overall vibe or theme of your day.

Finding the dress can be emotional, exciting, and yes, a bit stressful. But instead of treating it like a task to check off your list, try to enjoy it like a fun day out with your loved ones. Laugh, try on everything (even the wild ones!), sip some champagne, and soak in the moment -it really is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Now, let’s talk about photography. Choosing the right photographer is a big decision, and with so many styles and options out there, it can definitely feel a little overwhelming. I completely understand -it's hard to know where to start, especially when everyone's tastes are different. Just like food, what one person loves, another might not. (Trust me -I don’t always go with the crowd either!)

When I got married, things were very different. There was only one photographer in our area, so I didn’t really have a choice. And while the photos weren’t quite what I had envisioned, at the time, they were better than nothing. But now? You have so many amazing options at your fingertips. With social media, websites, and portfolios just a click away, it's easier than ever to find a photographer whose style truly matches your vision.

So here’s my advice: take your time. Explore different photographers. Look at full galleries- not just the highlight reels. Ask questions. Make sure you feel comfortable with them, because they’ll be right there with you on your most emotional day.

And most importantly -don’t forget to enjoy the process. Laugh often, lean on your loved ones, and remember: this is your day. However it all comes together, it will be uniquely beautiful because it’s a reflection of your love story.

In conclusion:

As overwhelming as wedding planning can be, don’t give up. Keep going, take it one step at a time, and trust that everything will fall into place. Nothing is impossible. Try to have fun along the way and let yourself enjoy the little moments -even the chaotic ones.

A positive mindset truly makes a difference. And when it all feels like too much? Just pause, close your eyes, take a deep breath... and carry on. You’ve got this. 💛
